In its native range from Virginia south through Georgia, it can be found in wet pine savannas and seepage bogs. The 6" tall x 1' wide, offsetting clumps are composed of horizontal pitchers that lay on, or just above the ground. Compared to the northern Sarracenia purpurea var. purpurea, the southern form has more ruffled pitchers that
